    Union’s Safety ​Measures For Fall Semester

    The University of Utah and the A. Ray Olpin Union are excited to welcome students back to campus for the Fall Semester! All campus buildings and departments that are open will be implementing safety measures to ensure the wellbeing of our campus community. It is recommended to read all the signage and rules of the space you are occupying as different buildings and departments will have different safety measures. Also, safety measures and changes are ever-evolving, it is important to stay flexible and adapt to the new changes as they come.

    All departments in the Union will have their own safety measures, however, below is the A. Ray Olpin Union Building’s current protocols:

    Union Building

    • All Union doors will be unlocked during operating hours
    • Face coverings are required for entry
    • Do not enter the building if you are experiencing a fever, cough, muscle aches or feel unwell
    • Maintain six feet of distance between you and others
    • Frequently trafficked areas and surfaces will be sanitized repeatedly throughout the day

    Union Dining Services

    • Both the Union Food Court and Crimson View will have extensive safety precautions and increased sanitization measures to ensure areas and surfaces are clean
    • Boost is the mobile ordering app (found wherever you install your apps) customers can use to pre-order meals. Customers can pay using credit/debit card or meal plan (at participating locations), visit DineOnCampus.com/Utah for more information
    • There will be no self-service food options
    • Safety signage and equipment will be placed in visible locations to ensure customers and dining service associates wear masks, social distance, wash their hands, and utilize hand sanitizing stations
    • Plexiglass shields will be implemented at all transaction, meal delivery, and communication sites

    Events & Scheduling

    • Following state and local guidelines, Union Events and Scheduling can schedule meetings in the Union
    • Meetings must consist of only University Students, Staff, & Faculty
    • Meetings cannot exceed more than 10 people at a time
    • No tabling permitted at this time
    • Sanitizing wipes will be available in all meeting rooms

    Union Lounge Spaces

    • Parlor A is the only designated lounge space for students at this time
    • Masks and social distancing are required in Parlor A
    • A maximum of 10 occupants are allowed in Parlor A

    Union Service Desk

    • All Service Desk Staff will wear masks during their entire shift and gloves during any hand-to-hand contact with customers
    • Lost and found items, such as cell phones and cards, will be sanitized when received and sanitized once more before returning the item to the to owner
    • Cash is still an acceptable form of payment
    • A new card reader will reduce the contact between staff and customers. Customers will be able to tap their card, phone, or insert their card for payment
    • Hand sanitizers will be available for all customer use

    Union Recreation Desk

    • The Union Recreation Desk is operating at half capacity to allow social distancing
    • All equipment will be sanitized between uses
    • The recreation area will receive a sanitizing walkthrough hourly
    • University bowling, billiard and ping-pong classes will still be hosted and can accept walk-in players outside of class times
    • Cash is still an acceptable form of payment

    Feed U Pantry

    • Open during operating hours, visit union.utah.edu/feedupantry for current hours
    • Physical distancing and sanitization measures are being used to keep both volunteers and clients safe
