    Mamava Nursing Room

The Union has added a new addition this summer, the Mamava nursing room. Located on the second floor next to the Orientation and Transition office the Mamava suite is a self-contained, mobile pod with comfortable benches, a fold-down table, an electrical outlet for plugging in a breast pump, and a door that can be locked for privacy.

Created by Mamava, a company dedicated to transforming the culture of breastfeeding by making it easier for more women to achieve their breastfeeding goals, the 4-foot by 8-foot pod is meant for individual use, but can fit more than one person, as well as mothers with babies and other children in tow.

“We’re thrilled to support breastfeeding mamas at the University of Utah,” said Sascha Mayer, Co-founder, and CEO of Mamava. “We believe that all mamas deserve a clean, comfortable, and dignified place to use a breast pump or breastfeed distraction-free—anywhere, anytime. Mamava pods provide flexibility for facilities and easy access for moms.”

To use the new nursing room, an interested person will need to enter the code found next to the door into the keypad on the door-handle. Once inside, the suite will automatically activate and the occupancy status will change from “Vacant” to “Occupied” once inside. While the suite is in use the code will not work until the room has been vacated and its occupancy status reset to “Vacant”.

For any interested in bringing a Mamava pod to other buildings on campus you can find more information by visiting www.mamava.com.
