    International Student and Scholar Services

Located on the fourth floor of the Union, International Student & Scholar Services ( ISSS) serves as the primarily on-campus contact and the designated space to serve the U’s community of international students, scholars, and alumni. ISSS is an incredible on-campus resource for students and the international community, as of 2018 the U has over 2,500 international students and more than 400 scholars. Per the University of Utah’s vision to provide an inclusive campus for students of all backgrounds and countries, ISSS is committed to fostering support for the global campus community.

ISSS serves to help the international student community through a plethora of services, including:

Orientation: The International Student and Scholar Services provides orientation for all new international students and scholars at the U of U including graduates, undergraduates, exchange students, and visiting scholars. Orientation is one of the other major things our office does as International students only attend our orientation and not Domestic Orientation.

Life on the U’s Campus: Campus resource information is available through ISSS including information on family and dependent information, campus activities happening around the U, information on on-campus housing, and safety measures are also offered.

Employment: ISSS also helps students find employment and support through the process of social security numbers, curricular practical trainings, optional practical trainings, transcripts, and taxes.

Sponsored Student Programs: The office helps connect students to SSP services,

including the facilitation of admissions, arrival, orientation, and immigration documents done through the financial sponsors of the University of Utah,

Leadership Opportunities: ISSS has information on becoming involved on campus and is home to the International Ambassador Program. The program works to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for new and continuing international students and aids in the adjustment to the U, Utah, and the United States.

Immigration & Status: The office serves as the main resource for F-1 and J-1 student and scholar immigration advising. ISSS assists international students in maintaining their visa status, applying for visa benefits, travel, employment, and much more!

If you have any additional information we encourage you to check out the services provided and stop by to learn more about ISSS!
